Advice
- A wonderful summary advising how to deal with partner difficulties: Don't move out of your apartment until you have new apartment to live in.
- I was advised that pearls are cheap in Japan.
- Advisor: "Why dont you buy some"
- Danieru: "And give them to who? How do I liquidate them?"
- Advisor: "Err, no...as presents..."
- Danieru: "Dude, I'm going to the 100Yen shop for my Christmas presents."
- Security at work complaining about me:
- It takes no time for you to satisfy security policy when you use the sentence on the list precisely. Now I will close this inquiry.
- Do not be scared about the Japanese work ethic. I was incredibly fearful for working in Japan, working for a bank, working an investment bank. Now that I am here, I can say for sure: there are very few rocket scientists or brain surgeons here. Japanese do not work harder than Europeans, they merely pretend to. It is perfectly normal for a Japanese office worker to sleep on their desk during the day. People leave the office late after doing nothing all day. This propogates the myth of being overworked. My suspicions on why the Japanese economy did so well include {overt consumerism, brilliant technologists, heavy foreign investment after WW2, fairly incorrupt capitalist government}. Exports appear to be an accident - almost all products are designed for domestic consumption exclusively.
