Danieru Tours The YouKay
I’m carrying the company X41 around these days, and it’s lovely. I want one, even though I already have it. Parents are arriving in a couple of days, and I’ve just managed to sort out a ryokan for them. It’s at the other end of town, and I’m taking the train back now, feeling marginally less cheated by travel time by the fact that I can update the blessed blog, or burogu. And rightly enough, the journey is flying by. Spoke to Dipesh for ages today, and impressed to learn that he is into whisky. I feel as if I’m missing out on something by not living in the UK now. Which is coincidental, because I’ve just booked the flights to go back.
Please leave comments on the post encourage me to come and visit you, but the plan is so far to do:
Thu 26th Oct: BirminghamFri: Rajani wedding
Sat: Bristol
Sun: Bristol
Mon: London
Tue: London (Zajac + Irish kid whose name escapes me at the moment)
Wed: London
Thu: Fly to Edinburgh
Fri: Pearson wedding
Sat: Fly back home via London then Seoul.
Onion, I plead you to consider allocating a day in October for debauchery in Bristol.
I’d have liked to fly up to Edinburgh a little earlier, but I cant, as it is my mother’s birthday on the Thursday, and I’m only spending 3 nights or 2 dinners in London anyway, so I guess it makes sense.
Quick Summary on me:
Spent enormous amounts of time recently on: working.
Spent enormous amounts of curse words directed towards: IBM’s wonderful AIX.
Spent enormous amounts of money recently on: a taxi – 19500 yen for a single journey
Reading: Henry Kissinger
Listening to: the crystal method
Watching: The boondock saints
In love with: nihilism. I have been feeling nothing of late. That said, I worked 80+ hours last week, 50 of which made me wish I was paid by the hour. However, I still managed to find the time (mostly by skipping dinner) to hit The Pong a couple of times.
Fascinated with: the notion of retiring at 40. I need $30k unearned notes, and the house paid for. Muzakashi des-ka? Iie. Daijobu des.
Next holiday: London calling
Dreaming of: less. I feel older and less progressive
Considering: that maybe buying a flat is a waste of cash
Missing: nothing. I have the world spinning on the end of index finger. But like Atlas, tired.

The week gone by
saw me get a year older. 'twas a good week, though. it all started on wednesday, with a bbq at casa carey, which is the most ridiculous of apartments i have ever seen in my life. i've seen some plush pads, but this is by far the most ludicrously overkill of all of them. one of the smaller balcony's was larger than ricky's entire flat. then we gawked at everything, ate like hogs, and crawled into work the next day. i managed to argue with haruka, who is now not speaking to me. ah well, it happens to the best of us.
thursday was a nomikai where the beer was good, the food was awful, and the conversation made me realise i never did, and still dont, want to be an SA. got to find a way to escape to the middle office.
friday was not intended to be anything crazy, as i was working the next day and needed to be onsite early. ended up having cigars and laphroaig with jez & john until about 2.
saturday and i was tired. god, i hate AIX. really. It took me 6 hours to change an IP address, mainly due to my incomptence. And with my ears ringing from the datacentre, i headed out to one of Eddie's mates stag do's. Came home early. Tired.
Worked on sunday as well. But, made it to the booze cruise in the evening.
Feeling tragically poor on a monday.
